Summer school "Climate change, ocean and society"

The Sea-Education summer school lead by Labex Mer, was designed in close collaboration with our scientific partners UBO, Ifremer, and Océanopolis. The shared objectives are to participate in the training of secondary school teachers, to contribute developing the link between high schools and university and increase the visibility of Brittany’s excellence’s in terms of research in marine and coastal sciences either in sciences of the nature or in human and social sciences.

UE Sciences & society is a course unit common to all the last year students of Master's degree in coastal and marine sciences.

This innovating educational program is co-piloted by LabexMER and PERISCOPE sciences & society platform. For PERISCOPE, the stake is to develop a culture of interdisciplinary, in particular in the interface man-nature, and to increase awareness to stakes in the sciences & society interface. For the education and training axis of LabexMER and for the persons in charge of the EDSM (Doctoral School of Marine Sciences) and Master's degrees SML (Marine and coastal Sciences), it involves decompartmentalizing the disciplinary approaches, but also confronting points of view, enriching the representations, opening education on the world, and creating more links between the students of the different Master's degrees and the PhD students.

FlotRisCo MOOC

The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) Flotrisco is an online course, free and open to all. Flotrisco covers study of coastal risks, particularly erosion and submersion risk. For this second session, the course is designed in collaboration with scientists from the European Institute for Marine Studies (IUEM) and from the Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR). This course includes conceptual contributions, expert interviews, interacting, practical activities and projects. This allows participants according to their level of involvement, to simply understand coastal risks or further on, to analyse and develop a complete risk management process. This course will be focussing on exchanges, cooperation between MOOC participants, and co-production of new knowledge.
