LabexMER Research Axis 2: Complexity and efficacity of the biological pump

Jill Sutton is a LabexMER international postdoc. Her research aims to evaluate the combined influence of an increase in atmospheric CO2 and the modification of trace element concentration on phytoplankton production and metabolism of carbon. Specifically, her scientific objectives are to study the physiological response of primary producers to ocean acidification and trace elements involved in carbon metabolism (Zn, Cd, Co) and to explore the conditions that may affect the form of inorganic carbon used by phytoplankton for photosynthesis and calcification.
