Offre de stage / Internship - Bivalves microbiota
Internship subject
Bivalves associated with coastal marine ecosystems are confronted with changes in their habitat and a resurgence of pathogens, which leads to high mortality. The main objective of this study will be to characterize the effect of immersion duration on the bacterial diversity of microbiota from different tissues of burrowing (Ruditapes philippinarum) or non-burrowing (Crassostera gigas) bivalves positioned at different bathymetric levels on the same intertidal site (site BR08 in the Bay of Brest) using metabarcoding techniques.
The successful candidate will have interests in microbial ecology and will be familiar with molecular biology (DNA extraction, DNA quantification, PCR, electrophoresis) and bio-informatics methods (processing of metabarcoding data and use of R software). If possible, knowledge in marine holobiont and/or microbiota associated with marine invertebrates will be a plus. Candidates will be organized, self-motivated and able to work independently. The student will be supervised by a Postdoctoral Researcher but will work closely with the PI (Pr. Gwenaelle Le Blay) and others members of team project.
